Job Description

While working in Catering or Latitude 39 at Baker University Center, customer service and safety are top priorities. You will be in direct contact with customers and will represent Culinary Services as a whole. Job duties may include but are not limited to wait-staff, serving or plating food for events, food assembly, bussing tables, bartending, dish room, washing pots and pans, cleaning kitchen and dining areas, maintaining required sanitary conditions, and following all safety work rules.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be a student of Ohio University, Hocking College, or a local high school.
  • All employees are required to maintain personal hygiene that is appropriate for food service and retail operations.
  • Culinary Services student employees will be responsible to know and follow all dress codes, rules, policies and procedures. These can be found in the Culinary Services Student Handbook at the following link:
  • Some jobs may require heavy lifting, moving, and standing or walking for extended periods of time. Also, jobs might be in places with cold/hot temperature work areas.
  • Culinary Services is an essential department to the Ohio University campus as we are responsible for providing food to our customers no matter the circumstance. Because of this, student employees will be required to work on holidays, snow days, and other days when the university is closed for whatever reason.

Student starting wages for Latitude 39 range from $3.85 plus tips to $7.70/hr. Student starting wage for Baker Catering is $7.85/hr. Employees must work a minimum of 4 hours per week and not exceed 20 hours per week. Hours will vary by each location.
