Pool Title Online Course Facilitator - Sociology
Position Summary

Applications to this pool posting will be considered to fill intermittent, non-benefits eligible facilitator positions as student demand dictates. The number of on-line courses offered is largely dependent upon student demand. Therefore, the need to hire facilitators often comes with very little notice. Such facilitator positions will be filled with qualified applicants from this pool.

Online Course Facilitators engage students in learning that meets the course and learning objectives, moderate weekly discussions and encourage quality participation from students, provide meaningful feedback to students on discussions, assist in creating a positive and supportive learning environment for students; provide timely grading of discussions in accordance to the rubric provided by the instructor of record.

Facilitators are paid $94.00 per assigned student. Expected hours and days will vary. The average number of hours depends on the length of the course and the number of students assigned.

Please note: Facilitators are required by the department to complete a three-week, online facilitator training upon hire. This course is offered by the Office of Instructional Innovation at Ohio University at no cost to the Facilitator.

Required Qualifications

B.A. in sociology or closely related field

Preferred Qualifications

M.A. in sociology; coursework in Ohio University’s Sociology Master’s program, including successful completion of the Teaching Sociology Graduate Seminar; successful completion of facilitator training by the Office of Instructional Innovation at Ohio University.
